Fairfield County Man Busted With Crack, Cocaine During Raid, Police Say

A Fairfield County man was busted with alleged crack and powdered cocaine during a raid by police.

The incident took place in Stamford around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3 on Myano Lane, Apt. 103.

According to Assistant Chief Richard Conklin of the Stamford Police Department, officers from the Drug and Organized Crime Unit had information that Jermaine "Mash" Akins, age 48, of Bridgeport, was dealing crack and cocaine out of the apartment.

On Thursday, officers from the unit, armed with a search warrant had to break down the door to the apartment after no one answered, said Conklin

Once inside, they found Akins sitting on a couch in the living room with 65 small bags of crack cocaine weighing 18.4 grams beside him as well a large bag of powdered cocaine weighing 1.6 grams, Conklin added.

During an additional search, officers found 13 small bags of powdered cocaine weighing 2.6 grams and another 2.8 grams of cocaine. 

Officers also seized $987 from one of "Mash's" pockets and $265 from the other pocket. In addition, scales and packaging materials were found. 

He was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of narcotics
  • Possession of narcotics with intent to sell 
  • Operating a drug factory.

Akins was released after posting a $10,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, Nov. 17.

Conklin said Akins has an extensive criminal record with arrests for dealing, robbery, escape, and failure to appear. His new arrest is number seven out of six pending cases.
